Tarifa
The small town of Tarifa is located in the Andalusian region
on the southernmost tip of the European mainland, west of Gibraltar and
only 14 kilometres away from the African continent. Tarifa is a very popular
holiday destination for surfing activities of all kind due to its special
location on the Costa de la Luz, uniting the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic
Ocean as well as its two strong winds called “Levante” and “Poniente”,
blowing daily across the main 15 kilometres long and white sandy beach.
In the summer months the Tarifan beaches come alive with colourful kites
and the little bars and clubs in town crowd with people from all over the
world, enjoying traditional Tapas food and delicious Mojito drinks after
a day of surfing. The charming Old Town of Tarifa gives you plenty of opportunities
to browse shops in historic alleys, whereas the adjacent Main Street displays
mostly water sport related shops such as kite and board sale, hire and repair,
surf clothing and surf schools.
Other activities such as whale watching, horseback riding, quad-bike trips
to the mountain backdrops of Tarifa or a day- trip to Morocco on the 35
min. fast ferry round up your perfect holiday in “Europe’s wind
capital” - Tarifa!
